I've been burned by vpn1411 too, the VIA C7/Eden CPUs are different, because the crypto is builtin into the CPU. May 01, 2008 · As an alternate discussion, norbert, if you really need VPN performance out of the WL-500gP and can live without the wireless functionality, gut the radio card and antenna and put a Soekris VPN1411 in their place. The 2.6.25 kernel just got a native driver for them.
Yes, I was talking about that Soekris module, but it doesen't seem to go above some 35 Mbit/s 3DES, so it might not be enough. The ALIX VPN1411 is a good combo The Soekris box boots up nicely and shows the expected output in all the terminal emulators. I do not press control-P so Soekris loads the FreeBSD boot loader, which correctly shows the F1, F2, F3 options. I touch nothing and the boot loader (seemingly) starts to boot FreeBSD. Jun 23, 2008 · Soekris is discontinuing the older models, the new faster 5501 is very well supported by OpenBSD 4.3. It's actually overkill for a home firewall. KD85 is definitely the way to go if you're in Europe, or want a rackmount chassis, burn-in, and support.
